Days of Summer at Wa-Thik-Ane

The work on camp begins with planning in late November and early December but the real camp season only starts when the grounds of Wa-Thik-Ane are filled with voices of the young and old, new and returning campers. It is not until then that the camp comes alive!

This past Friday, the Wee campers came with their Moms to kick off the season with a rainbow of colors as they challenged themselves to complete the BC Rainbow Revelry Challenge.

With some fantastic leaders (Sarah, Jessica and Laura) their time spent here was full of smiles, excitement and fun! We had a great group of campers who didn’t even let the rainy weather dampen their spirits.

Thank you for coming to camp at Wa-Thik-Ane and for sharing your songs, stories and great spirit with us on our shores. Until we meet again Wee campers, see you next year!

Sunday we greeted our Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders, Rangers and Leaders for our first full week of camp. Even the Pirates of Wa-Thik-Ane showed up (they really are not as scary as they look). Hildegaurd was busy moving luggage from the parking! The sites were alive with chatter as the campers made new friends on arrival and said hello to their old ones. Swim tests were done after lunch and there was even some time extra time left for swimming!

As the campers returned to their sites, the busy trio of food ladies — Charyl, Donna and Holli — were prepping an amazing spread for our welcome barbecue. Let the flipping begin!

A great barbecue was enjoyed by all as we all got to know who we were sharing the camp with this week.

As a side note, Super Eagle has some babies staying in her nest and enjoying the company.

I was wondering how that Kabota was going to lug all those bags & bed rolls.
Enjoy your time, may the weather cooperate. And thankyou in advance to all the leaders
