We are into our last week of Summer Camp at Wa-Thik-Ane and with smaller numbers this week it gives my hard working food service ladies and my very hard working waterfront staff a little break. The sites are still brimming with activity though as the campers make friendship bracelets, signs for their tents and many other things. I am excited to see the Guides start their Camp Tour Challenge today as they participate in the Amazing Race their leaders have set up for them. They will be challenged with Morse code to break to move from station to station.
The Sparks and Brownies have been busy with crafts and waterfront. Getting the little campers down to waterfront and all ready for swimming and boating is a challenge in itself, but one they enjoy once they make it down there. Today some of the Brownies will have their first challenge opportunity to swim to the rowboat and back to earn their Boat Swim Challenge.
After the business of the day last evening, I headed up the hill to visit the Pathfinder and Ranger site to see the girls sitting round the campfire participating in a girl led campfire. I was able to stay for a few songs and left with a warm feeling and a fantastic image in my mind of these young ladies making new friendships and memories that will be with them forever.
