Today the action began mid-morning in the parking lot with round two of campers arriving. Campers bid goodbye to their parent(s) and headed to the Algonquin campsite for get to know you games and songs. As more campers arrived the circle of friends grew larger at Algonquin.
Once everyone had arrived the campers went to their designated sites to settle in. Then it was time for lunch and swim testing for those who hadn’t done it previously. Everyone passed and will be able to enjoy the waterfront this week with swimming and boating.
We all gathered at suppertime for a BBQ and let me tell you these campers can eat! Some had two hamburgers; it is great to see the outdoor appetite. The chipmunks have a good appetite too, as last week we had one come up to the kitchen and eat a pear while a leader was standing right there. I think they signed up for summer camp!
We have some awesome Brownie voices this week as I heard them singing as I was walking down to waterfront later in the evening. I hope they were rewarded with delicious s’mores. All was quiet over the camp as I strolled back to my nest last night; a good sign.
