Yesterday, the campers arrived for the start of the 2015 Wa-Thik-Ane Summer camp under sunny skies and smiling faces thank to my amazing group of volunteers! Parents said their goodbyes as the campers waited to head up to their sites with excitement. Everything ran smoothly as the Wa-Thik-Ane baggage handler did not lose any luggage and all the campers were settled in on site with their luggage by lunchtime. Everyone had some get-to-know-each-other time on their sites and then it was down to waterfront for swim testing. All the girls did an amazing job at their water testing as well as the Wee Moms.
Supper was a barbecue at waterfront area so we all had the opportunity to social and welcome each other. I know from cooking the hamburgers that there were some hungry campers after all that swimming to pass their water test; another great visual from camp is seeing the campers with such hearty appetites!
As they day started to wind down, I was treated to the sound of wonderful singing voices coming from The Wee Mom and Me campsite. Ahh summertime at Wa-Thik-Ane, the lapping water, campfires, singing and watching new friendships grow!
Day Two started off fantastic with sunny skies and the Wee campers heading out for time on the water in boats!
Until tomorrow…..Super Eagle signing off.
