In spite of a rainy forecast earlier in the week, the clouds parted and the sun came out in full force for a high-spirited party in the park! On May 10 at Parc Charbonneau in Rosemere, Girl Guides from as far away as Lachute and Saint Bruno gathered along with host district Northern Lights and local Rosemere residents to showcase what our mission is all about.
With their passport in hand, youngsters challenged themselves to visit each of the 16 kiosks and earn a sticker to put in their passport. There was truly something for everyone to explore – from camp cooking demonstrations to a park clean up, STEM experiments and a collaborative mosaic art project. Little ones had fun with the inflatable games while everyone stopped by for a visit with local police and firefighters and a close-up look at a police Smart car and firetruck. Visitors to the International/Travel booth were treated to typical snacks from the World Centres and members who had recently traveled with Girl Guides shared stories of their adventures to Switzerland, England and Kenya!
Over 250 people including a number of families and passersby visited the site throughout the day. What a perfect day to introduce or re-introduce the community of Rosemere to the world of Guiding! Click HERE to view our photo gallery.
