Festi-Guides was a huge success!
Festi-Guides: Girl Guides put their leadership skills to the test
LONGUEUIL, QUEBEC – Festi-Guides, a Guiding festival organized by the volunteers of Girl Guides of Canada, was celebrated under sunny skies at Parc Michel-Chartrand this past Sunday. More than 300 girls ranging in ages from 5 to 18 alongside Longueuil families took part in the many activities that characterize Guiding, such as camping demonstrations, a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) booth, a collective mosaic, a recycling project, geocaching and even zumba! The theme of the event, “transforming the mission of Guiding into action”, provided participants with an opportunity to see first-hand how Girl Guides of Canada enables girls to be confident, resourceful and courageous, and to make a difference in the world.
Both members and non-members alike spent a wonderful day of leadership development through adventure and discovery. According to Ingrid Hamel, Commissioner for the District des Montérégiennes, “The activities were a good reflection of diversity and of what makes Guiding special in Quebec”.
