Montreal, QC – Saturday, October 27th, Québec Girl Guides visited the Montreal Impact soccer team, as they hosted the New England Revolution.
Upon arrival to the stadium, the public was ushered into the Fun Zone, where numerous sponsors set up booths. Of course, Girl Guides were there in full force!
At the booth, we were giving out free tattoos, fridge magnets, pencils, and even Girl Guide Cookies! To tempt the people passing by, we held a raffle to win a whole jar of Girl Guide Cookies, if a participant was able to guess the correct amount inside.
The volunteers were quite busy, but stopped everything when Tac-Tik came for a visit before the match.
As the game was about to begin, girls on the Honour Row were selected to be on the field during the players’ introductions and national anthems.
Emma was fortunate enough to take part in the opening ceremonies. She mentioned, “It was very exciting! Being on the field was cool. Standing on the field and hearing O Canada was my favourite part of the day!”
Another girl on the Honour Row, Despina, was very enthusiastic about being at the game. “The best thing is that I’m here, today,” she said.
With approximately 19,988 spectators, the Impact was defeated with a score of 1-0. However, all Girl Guides had a magnificent time and enjoyed participating in all of the pre-game festivities.
