1stRichelieu Rangers take a bite of the big apple!
By Ingrid Hamel
On April 27-29, 2012, Guiders Carole Knaapen, Lorraine Hamel and Ingrid Hamel and the 1st Richelieu Rangers from Des Montérégiennes District had the pleasure of traveling to New York City. We drove in 2 vans to Albany, NY and took the Amtrak train into the city, which was amazing…way better than taking the bus from Montréal!
Once there, we hit the town…Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum…9/11 Memorial…and then we saw the Broadway musical RENT…and that was only Friday!
Saturday morning we took a hop on/hop off bus tour downtown to Soho. It was great to listen to the tour guide tell us about all the sights along the way while we leisurely soaked up the sun and shared good times. Once in Soho, we did some shopping. Next we visited Battery Park to have a look at Lady Liberty…it was nice to enjoy some greenery and waterfront after having been in the crowded city. We hopped on the bus for the rest of the tour back to Times Square where we visited Macy’s and a few other stores and finished the day at the Hard Rock Café for supper.
Sunday morning was spent doing last minute shopping in Times Square…Hershey’s and M&M stores as well as a few touristy places to get all the souvenirs the girls wanted to bring back for friends.
What an amazing experience and a great way to end the Guiding year!
