On January 21st 2012, the volunteer women of Girl Guides of Canada’s Québec Council will come together for a unique one-day symposium Empowered Guiders: Leadership in Guiding. This reunion of girl empowerment specialists features motivational speakers, innovative workshops and consultative sessions on best practices for capacity-building and leadership development of today’s girls and young women.

Corrie Sirota-Frankel, M.S.W., P.S.W.
Corrie holds a graduate degree in Social Work from McGill University as well as a Graduate Certificate in Loss and Bereavement where she has been teaching for 20 years. Corrie joined Hebrew Foundation School in September 2010 as the Dean of Student Life. In addition to her work at HFS, she also specializes in the area of loss and bereavement. Ms. Frankel has worked in the Montreal Community for over 2 decades developing and facilitating psychosocial prevention and intervention programs for Families and Children. She is a well known guest speaker having presented at numerous workshops both locally as well as abroad. Some of her recent presentations have included Understanding Adolescent Girls, How to Run Effective Parent/Teacher Conferences, The Secret to De-stress as well as When Bad Things Happen to Good Students. She has been interviewed on many local radio and TV programs on various issues relating to child development. She is a member of the West Island Resource Center Board of Directors. She is married and has two teenage daughters.

Written by Arielle: My name is Arielle S. I love to sing and dance. My favourite sport is swimming. I am in 6th grade. I was just recently accepted to the Peace Pals at my school and was accepted to Royal West Academy. I have been a Girl Guide since I was five. I enjoy Girl Guides because I am always making new friends and it teaches me good life skills such as babysitting and leadership.
Arielle is a Guide in the Lakeshore District and a GGC-Québec Provincial Girl Ambassador.
