Not one to hide a light under a bushel (though apparently INSIDE balloons), below is the follow-up note from Ingrid Hamel, Richelieu Ranger Guider after our 4th annual appearance in the Light the Night support team, providing balloon assistance and pumping helium with a smile. The event raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and Richelieu Rangers and 1st Mount Bruno Pathfinders were out in force.
The significance of the red white and gold balloons is not lost on the young helpers, and many have friends and family who have been touched by cancer.
Just wanted to send a big thank you to all who participated in Saturday’s Light the Night event (October 15th, 2011). The girls were the epitome of efficiency with those balloons and it all went very smoothly, albeit very busy.
Thank you to Carole Knaapen for being the go to person and handling the meeting at Tim’s and getting it all together. Thanks to our extra Guiders Anne Boudriau and Heather O’Beirne who helped out, and to the parents who gave their time as well. And special thanks to the girls (and boy!) who always do everything with a smile on their face. It is a pleasure to volunteer with all of you ! I think everyone really got a sense of how important and touching and fun this evening can be.
